Artist BookPrintmaking
A visual exploration of juxtaposition — lace and lucha wrestling held in the same frame. One inherently feminine, the other hyper-masculine yet performatively feminine in its elaborate costumes, masks, and personas. Through collage, the two worlds are interwoven across spreads of wrestling imagery, lucha magazine covers, and lace patterns used as both motif and frame.
Produced on the Risograph, the binding is a variation of Japanese stab-binding structured to echo the lacing on the back of a lucha mask — interlacing, crossing, pulled tight. Form and content arrive at the same answer.
First produced at Ox-Bow School of Arts in a small, untitled edition of 15. The second edition, expanded in imagery and ink palette, was produced for the graduate thesis exhibition in an edition of 60.
