Weaving As Inquiry

Research Portfolio, Creative Code

This research portfolio begins with Textile Manifestos—From Bauhaus to Soft Sculpture at the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, where weaving is positioned as a critical practice shaped by labor, gender, and technology. The exhibition prompted questions around pattern, repetition, and the role of the hand within structured systems.
In response, I developed a generative coding project that simulates weaving through algorithmic patterning, using iteration and randomness to explore structure and variation. Selected outputs are translated into small-scale physical weavings, where digital precision encounters material unpredictability.
The project culminates in a publication that brings together archive, code, and textile. Through this process, weaving is approached as both method and inquiry—an iterative practice where research and making are inseparable.
